As from the 17th of June 2005 the "No Drinking Zones" ban will be inforced in the district's five town centres thoroughout the Borough of Congleton!

Signs will be placed in specially designated areas informing citizen's that they should not drink in that area and also informing of the fine that they will face should they ignore the ban!

It is not an offence to drink in a designated area however if an officer of the law appears and asks an individual to refrain from doing so and the request is not obeyed then this will be seen as an arrestable offence, or contrarily the individual can be given a £50 fine.

The Borough aims to clamp down on Binge Drinking and all the problems that arise from this modern day problem within our society!

With the New Laws coming into effect one can only hope that crime will decrease significantly and citizens can feel safe to wander around the town without being confronted or troubled by some inebriated individual.

The designated "No Drinking Zones" are as follows:-
